Dia de Muertos style figurines. Clay, wire & acrylic.
Custom made large concrete skull painted in gold leaf, acrylic paint and yacht varnish. The design is inspired by reflections on my family and the women within it. This giant concrete skull is a collaborative piece of artwork. The skull has been made by sculptor David Corbett. Painting and design by La Calaca Inglesa.
A family of calacas. The skull to the far right has marigold eyes. Marigold flowers (cempasuchil) are an important part of Dia de Muertos symbol of death. Their brightness and beauty brings life and new birth, their strong fragrance guides the souls to the alters. Made from clay, painted and varnished.
